Education
To meet the needs of the public and in particular of young people, various educational activities are conducted in the Garden with support from botanists; these include themed gardens, exhibition halls, herbarium, laboratory, as well as the library. SZBG is also an education base for local colleges, and universities in Guangzhou and Hong Kong, including Hong Kong Baptist University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Sun Yat-Sen University, South China Agricultural University, Shenzhen University, as well as Luohu Foreign Language School and Shenzhen Liannan Primary School. The Garden has been awarded nationally and regionally prestigious titles, including National Youth Science and Technology Education Base (2002), National Science Education Base (2006), Guangdong Province Science Education Base (2020-2024), Shenzhen Top Ten Science Popularization Base (2017), and Shenzhen Nature Education Center (2017).
Several experts in our Garden are well-known for their outstanding contributions in the field of science popularization: Prof. Zhang Li was awarded the title of Top Ten Science Communication Talents in Guangdong in 2017; Prof. Zhang Shouzhou, Prof. Zhang Li, and Prof. Li Nan were successively employed by the China Association for Science and Technology as the Chief Expert of Scientific Communication in the fields of Evolutionary Botany, Bryophytes and Cycads, respectively.
