Conservation Facilities
A total of 22 themed gardens form part of our conservation facilities. Themed gardens can be used for conservation, for displaying gardening information and for educational activities. Most of these areas are completely open to tourists. The design and construction of themed gardens has been carefully considered, especially the combination of beauty and conservation function as a whole. The only themed garden not open to the public is the Conservation Center that is used for scientific conservation purposes only. The other themed gardens open to tourism will be introduced in the chapter Tourism and Attractions.

Conservation Center
Conservation Center
The Conservation Center is the most important conservation venue of the Garden, and it is the only area not open to tourists. It is located at Xinping Village, about 2 km from the north entrance of the Garden. With a total land area covering about 3 hectares, this center integrates conservation, scientific research, education and propagation. The center currently has approximately 10,000 m2 of greenhouse space, including 9 conservation greenhouses and several breeding greenhouses, a sub-alpine cold house and a tropical plant winter greenhouse. About 5,000 species (including cultivated taxa) of ferns, Gesneriaceae, Begonia, bromeliads, orchids, carnivorous plants, Acanthaceae, and bryophytes are conserved and cultivated there. As part of the upgrade of the conservation facilities, a display greenhouse for Gesneriaceae was completed at the end of 2016. A close-to-nature karst habitat was created for the conservation and display of this family. A bryophyte greenhouse was also completed in the early 2017, thus providing spacious areas for bryophyte conservation and cultivation.
