Research Facilities
The Garden has more than 20 different laboratories, with a total space of more than 3000m2 for scientific research, equipped with a number of advanced instruments and equipments. More than RMB¥30 million has been invested in the purchase of instruments and equipments, including MiSeq sequencer, supercomputer center, desktop scanning electron microscope, laser confocal microscope, liquid mass spectrometry, gas mass spectrometry, photosynthesis meter, PIR precision infrared radiometer, graphics workstation, flow cytometer, fluorescence quantitative PCR instrument, gradient PCR instrument, ultracentrifuge, large-capacity refrigerated centrifuge, desktop high-speed refrigerated centrifuge, atomic absorption spectrometer, atomic fluorescence spectrometer, ultra-low temperature refrigerator, two-dimensional electrophoresis system, Zeiss IMAGER2 microscope, gel imaging system, portable leaf area meter, and multi-channel canopy spectrum measurement system, etc.
The herbarium of the Garden
The herbarium of the Garden (SZG) is the largest integrated botanical herbarium in Shenzhen and houses approximately 131,000 specimens. It is a crucial herbarium for studying the local Shenzhen flora and the flora of the wider Pearl River Delta region. The herbarium has large and important collections of bryophytes from Hong Kong and Macao. The digitization of the specimens is ongoing and about 70% has been completed.

The Plumeria Book Bar
The Plumeria Book Bar, the library of the Garden, is located on the first floor of the research building. It houses more than 40,000 professional books and magazines, including a document archive donated by the late Prof. Siu Ying Hu in 2004, which has become the treasure of the library. In addition to providing literature access for professionals of the staff and scientific visitors, the library is also open to the public.
