Exhibitions
It is always a challenge for botanical gardens to decide how best to show plant beauty and diversity to their audiences. In SZBG, there are two different types of exhibition. The permanent exhibition halls on the site are the Shenzhen Museum of Paleontology, the Shade Garden, Orchid and Butterfly Valley, in which tourists can see fossil plants, shade-tolerant plants, orchids, and butterflies and moths, respectively. The other types of exhibition are held in temporary venues and are focused on special themes. For example, we held Explore bryophytes-the miniature angels in the plant kingdom in the Bonsai Garden, and Tropical Rain Forest, Magnoliaceae, and Artemisinin at the Paradise Lawn.
We also look for new ways to attract more visitors from the general public, for example, by combining science and art. The exhibition, The Magic and Enchantment of Bryophytes staged on the fourth floor of Shenzhen Convention Center during the XIX International Botanical Congress is one of our new approaches to show the beauty, uniqueness and diversity of bryophytes.
