Zingiberaceae
Zingiberaceae is an important flowering plant family with a tropical and subtropical distribution. Species of this family are dominant and diverse in the underground layer of tropical mountain rain forests. Among about 1,300 species in some 50 genera worldwide, some 200 species of 22 genera are grown in China. Gingers are often used for medicinal plants or spices and seasonings, such as Amomum villosum, Curcuma longa, C. phaeocaulis, C. aromatica and Alpinia hainanensis, Some species have beautiful plants and gorgeous flowers that are prized for ornamental decorations. The SZBG has collected more than 110 species for more than 10 genera of ginger family, which have been widely planted throughout the garden.
