Magnoliaceae
The Garden has been engaged in the introduction and conservation of Magnoliaceae since 1991. Currently, there are more than 130 species in 11 genera, with about 25,000 individuals planted. These also include nearly 20 taxa of rare and endangered species, such as Manglietiastrum sinicum, Alcimandra cathcartii, Magnolia officinalis, M. sicloldii, Manglietia insignis, M. megaphylla, Michelia odora and Parakmeria yunnanensis. The Garden has also conducted cross-breeding studies, and several new hybrids have been registered, including Magnolia ‘Hongxiaoxing’, M. ‘Hongshouxing’ and Michelia ‘IBC2017’. The main conservation venue for these plants is the Magnolia Collection.
