Herb Garden
The Herb Garden was established in 1997 and opened to the public in 2000. It covers an
area of more than 2 hectares. More than 700 species in 465 genera and 191 families of common and rare
medicinal plants in South China are preserved and displayed in this area. There are local distinctive
plants including Amomum villosum, Fallopia multiflora, Ficus hirta,
Desmodium styracifolium, Piper nigrum, Alpinia hainanensis,
Alpinia oxyphylla, Cinnamomum cassia and Alpinia officinarum, as well as
national-level protected plants including
Pseudolarix amabilis, Hydnocarpus hainanensis, Semiliquidambar cathayensis,
Houpoea officinalis and Cibotium barometz. The garden is an important place for the
collection, display and public education of medicinal plants in Shenzhen.
