Aquatic Plant Collection
Constructed in 1983 at the northeast end of Fairy Lake, the Aquatic Plant Collection
houses many beautiful aquatic plants, including lotuses, Nymphaea and Victoria. An
eye-catching pavilion, Lotus Pavilion, is in the center, and the Boat Shape House is in the northern
part of the area. The House is a perfect place for educational and cultural activities. In the summer,
colorful lotus flowers are the one of the main attractions. Bald cypress (Taxodium distichum),
a naturalized tree from the Americas, has leaves that change gradually in the autumn to become orange
and red, forming one of the most colorful scenes in the Garden from early January to Chinese spring
festival.
