Center of National Cycad Germplasm Conservation
"Center of National Cycad Germplasm Conservation", also known as Cycad Garden, was the first rare and endangered plant ex-situ conservation center officially approved by National Forestry Administration (presently National Forestry & Grassland Administration) in China. It is also the first national-level specific plant garden in SZBG. Since its establishment in December 2002, the National Cycad Conservation Center has been actively engaged in the collection, conservation, scientific research and popular science education, as well as reintroduction of endangered cycad species. The Center has collected more than 240 species of cycads in 3 families and 10 genera from China and abroad. Most cycads grow well, and some of them have bloomed and produce cones every year. At present, the Center covers nearly 6 hectares and is divided into five conserved sections and a fossil hall.
