The Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden-Guangdong Academician Workstation was unveiled on April 17 at Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden. The workstation will operate under the guidance of Prof. Yang Huanming（杨焕明), a famous and influential scientist on genomics. He is also a professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Co-founder as well as a Member of the Board of Directors of BGI Group.

The Academic Committee of the workstation was set up on the same day and held the first meeting. The members of the committee include Yang Huanming (杨焕明), Hong Deyuan（洪德元）, Kuang Tingyun (匡廷云), Kang Le（康乐）, Chong Kang（种康）, Hao Xiaojiang（郝小江）, Yang Weicai (杨维才) , Xie Jianping (谢剑平) and Wang Yusheng（王渝生). Most of them are Academicians and well-known scientists of genomics, physiology, plant taxonomy and evolution, plant resources and science education, etc. At the meeting, the experts put forward a lot of constructive suggestions, especially on how to elevate scientific research and science education.

The workstation will focus on plant diversity investigation and research, taxonomy and systematics, genomics, landscape horticulture and urban ecology.
