Recently, our research on the genome of Welwitschia mirabilis had attracted general interests from domestic and foreign peers. Dr. Richard Sima, a columnist from New York Times, reviewed the findings in an article which published on 31th July 2021.
In this article, Professor Andrew R. Leitch (Queen's University London, UK), Professor Jim Leebens-Mack (University of Georgia, USA), and Dr. Wan Tao (Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, Shenzhen) were interviewed and they put forward viewpoints on the ecological adaptive evolution of Welwitschia mirabilis, the influence on the subsequent crop stress improvement and plant diversity protection. Meanwhile, The Independent (UK) also picked up this report which is getting lots of interest.
Beyond that, the work on Welwitschia genome also be featured by editors of Nature Communications as one of the 50 most important articles in the "Plants and Agriculture" topic.
